This unique BBC/Nature co-production won Scott Stender the highest achievement award from the Royal Television Society (RTS) in England for "Excellence in Camerawork and Lighting". This is the British equivalent to an Emmy award.
Scott was O.B. D.P. both years aboard the S.S. Western Flyer, a research vessel with the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute. Stationed about 11 miles offshore, the ship was the master control for the remote submarine, "Tiburon", which sent back images live from the seafloor, nearly 2 miles deep. An unprecedented 27% audience share watched the show live in England that day.
